The Spruce Cottage

The Spruce Cottage

Fully equipped, clean, comfortable and very private, the Spruce Cottage is our newest cottage. The spruce logs were cut nearby on the property. The all-log, hand crafted construction makes for a very tight and solid cabin. The interior is alive with the warmth and beauty of wood starting with the hand milled hardwood plank floor. Enjoy the special warmth from the wood stove or convenient electric heat. There is a full bath, a fully equipped kitchen, and living/dinning area downstairs. Upstairs there is a large one room sleeping loft with double bed. At the other end of the loft there is a sitting area with a double futon. Down stairs there is a futon which may used as a double bed as well. The Spruce Cottage is spacious for 2 or comfortable for a small family. The front deck looks out across a pure wilderness view to the Cape Breton Highlands. There is a gas BBQ and a fire pit in the front yard. See more pictures of the Spruce Cottage

A couple of Guest Book comments:

We have come here on our honeymoon from Hastings, Nebraska, U.S. The town of Baddeck is a great place, full of warmth and kind people. Being at Big Hill allowed us to take 2 days to explore the Cabot Trail, it's time for us to return to Nebraska but we have loved every minute of our time at Big Hill. We bring with us the memory of deep quiet, gracious space, beautiful views and warm hospitality from Terry and Linda! Not to mention the sweet little squirrels and Sherlock and zoe, who took us on walks and welcomed us back after each days adventure.

We had a wonderful vacation in this beautiful handmade cottage. The woodstove, the staircase, the loft, the view – charming. A great base for exploring the Cabot Trail. Great hosts. Thank you! C & A
